Gabrial Babella is the previous President of ASA of AZ. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences from Arizona State University. He was born in Chicago, IL, and lives in Phoenix, AZ. He credits his family’s influence as the reason he works in Assyrianism, but also and most importantly, knowing the atrocities Assyrians have gone through to hold on to their identity drives and inspires him to work for the Assyrian cause. He is also the Vice President of WAAY and a Director of the Assyrian American Cultural Organization of AZ. He has travelled to 16 countries!
Nineveh Rasho is the previous Eastern Regional Director of AYFA and former President of ASAC. She holds a Master's of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and currently works as an Architect in training. She was born and lives in the Chicagoland, IL area. The Assyrian cause is important to her because being Assyrian is a part of who she is. She believes that as a vulnerable people with a rich history, it is imperative to be active in ensuring that there is a future for Assyrians. A fun fact about her is that she is great at quickly remembering song lyrics and recognizing music beats and melodies.
Courtney Moushi is the previous President of ASAC-UIC Chapter. She holds a B.A. in Architecture Studies with a Minor in History. She is currently working as a Brand Reviewer for McDonalds as well as a research assistant for an architecture book. She was born and raised in Chicago, IL. The Assyrian cause is important to her because she grew up very close to my grandparents who always stressed the importance of knowing and embracing our culture and language. Learning from her grandparents that came from a different generation urged her to connect and learn so that she can continue to pass our traditions onto the next generations. In her free time she likes to cook, read, and travel!
Ted Baza is the previous Sports Director of CCASYA. He received his B.S. in Biology & B.A. in Psychology at UC Merced and is currently a second year Physician Assistant Student at Emory and Henry College in Virginia. Ted was born and raised in Turlock, CA. His favorite part of being a Sports Director was seeing Assyrians from all different backgrounds and ages come together and enjoy participating in sports leagues. Ted believes the best way to help the Assyrian cause is to find what personally interests you and try to implement it when working for our people. A fun fact about him is that he loves to play board games & ping pong!
Stephney Bazi is the current Marketing Director of ASAC. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science and is the owner of Stephney Martin Photography. She was born and raised in Chicago, IL but now lives in Phoenix, AZ. She has become more involved in the Assyrian community these past couple of years and finds it important to stay connected with one another in order to not lose sight of our identity. A fun fact about her is that she lived in Alaska for a summer!
Eastern Regional Director
Sylvia Isteefanos is the previous Social Director of the ASA of Chicago. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Bioengineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and currently works as a Medical Device Engineer. Being immersed in the Assyrian Community is important to her because she realized how easily one can disconnect from their identity when not involved and active. A fun fact about her is that she and her family lived in Malaysia for a year after leaving Iraq.
Western Regional Director
Ramsin Youkana holds a B.A. in Political Science and is currently a Law Student! He was born and lives in Modesto, CA. He believes that as Assyrians, it is each of our duty to work for our nation because at the end of the day, no one but our people will... aka "Ganan Qa Ganan". A fun fact about him is that he likes to make his own homemade wines!
